What is the best way to conserve energy and reduce my energy bills?

We encourage our customers to consider the following options to make a difference in energy bills:

  • Upgrade to a high-efficiency system
  • Adjust the temperature five to eight degrees either up or down depending on the season
  • Install ceiling fans
  • Have annual maintenance performed
  • Do not block vents or registers
  • Install a programmable thermostat

When do you recommend I have maintenance performed on my home cooling system?

Annual maintenance is recommended for you’re A/C. Regular maintenance includes a tune-up and cleaning to remove contaminants, check your system for any malfunctions and ensure it’s operating as efficiently as possible. Tune-ups are a simple way to be proactive in maintaining a safe unit and help to extend the life of it.

How long does an air conditioner last?

On average, an A/C lasts anywhere between 10 and 15 years—in some cases they can last up to 20 years or more. There are a variety of factors that affect the lifespan of your unit. With regular maintenance, we can keep your unit operating efficiently and make any repairs that are needed along the way.

How do I know which cooling system is right for my home?

To properly outfit your home with an air conditioner or heat pump, one of our cooling professionals will come to your home to take measurements, find out what your home comfort needs are and discuss your budget. We do our best to fit your home perfectly by narrowing down which options fit your home the best, assessing efficiency ratings and discussing all of your options with you. We can even help find rebates, if available, to save you money. Ultimately the purchase decision is yours—but we will be there every step before expertly installing your new cooling system.

What is the most efficient thermostat setting for air conditioning?

The best setting for your air conditioner is the highest temperature at which you are comfortable. It is recommended to keep your A/C around 76 to 78 degrees when you are at home, and bumping it up to 78-80 degrees while you’re away. Raising the thermostat setting just two degrees can reduce your overall cooling costs by 5%.
